DSC_6482 FINAL.jpg - The people who moved to the forest of Ixcan were extremely poor, and opened their paths through the completely virgin forest with their machetes. After years of isolation, hardships and suffering, a new beginning and new dreams are motivating them to keep fighting. There are many victims of the conflict who are now elderly, mostly widows on their own, living in isolation. In a society where there used to be a lot of respect for elderly people and grandparents, the war came to break down many family ties.
